I had been twitching on the beach all day long with excitement as could not wait to see the Monkey’s. After a fairly disappointing Glasto – not there fault – naughty sound people (or was it Mr Eavis turning the volume from a Spinal Tap 11 to a Take That 2?) I was despo to see them. The word on the street was that their appearance at T in the Park rocked and I for one was crossing every available body part that they would be as good at Beni.
The result? I danced me tush off for an hour and a half straight so much so I nearly induced a heart attack. The songs were slick, the beats spot on and they had certainly upped the ante since Glasto. They were headliners no shadow of a doubt (even though I find it strange headliners now consist of bands that have had maybe one of two albums but if I go with that theory…) and were punching divisions above their weight. I really do believe they could be the next big thing I know people keep on saying it but their songs are ridiculously good. I hum them all day long, never get bored and seeing them at Beni was one of the best experiences of my life. Top moments have gotta be “Fake Tales of San Francisco” – with I think the best line I’ve heard in a song for donkeys – “and all the weekend rockstars are in the toilets are practising their lines”, “Still Take you Home” and Scummy”.
So you’d think no one could top that then which was kinda true but I still have The Hives, Kings of Leon, BRMC, Muse and Unkle today!

I don't think they all that, lead singer has an annoying voice.
