Reading, Get Loaded and Why I Cant Decide What to Do

So poor old Reading looks like its gonna be a washout.

Well I am gonna be alright ( I Hope ) as I am off on my annual trip to Clapham Common for Get Loaded in the Park.
Its an Arterberry Road tradition and the whole gang will be out.

Have to say I'll be sad to miss Reading this year as the great NIN are playing who are probably one of my most favorite bands. Trent Reznor is a genius and they are thrilling to see live. However, I am afraid Reading has turned into a commercial slugfest just like V. Its sad to be honest.

My Aunt Annie was one of the first people to show me the delights of music and I used to love her telling me the tale of how she went to Reading with my Father just after arriving here from Ireland on the ferry. She was lucky enough to see Black Sabbath. In fact when you look back at old line ups its quite sickening: ACDC, The Police, Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Faith No More, Nirvana and Oasis.

The truth is they always attract great bands but the atmosphere is aggressive and not very festival like. I remember being there one year and a group of guys tipped over a portaloo with a girl inside - thats terrible and just wouldn't happen at Glastonbury. I know this may not sound very Rock n Roll but that kinda behaviour sucks. Maybe I'm getting old fuck knows.

I guess I'm just happy that this weekend I can bop a few miles down the road - see a great mix of indie and dance music, go toa wicked after party and still get change from a £20 to get home.

Now I just need to decide what I'm doing Friday and Saturday...hmmmmmm
