Viva La Razzmatazz
I LOVE SPAIN. Ok more specifically I love Razzmatazz. Based in the industrial part of Poble Nou (home of the famous Cemetary) and a five minue taxi ride from Barca it is the best indie / electro club I have ever been too. Five floors of club - downstairs there is indie rock at the Razz Club, upstairs there's techno at The Loft and Lo*Li*Ta. The Pop Room and the Rex Room are more chillout spaces booking pop, electro & disco acts.
I have no idea why we dont have a similliar super club in the UK. Fabric maybe but it is totally electro focused. All indie clubs in London are pretty naff seemingly stuck somewhere in 1993. Razzmatazz don't shy away from playing ground breaking new music and also songs by big bands DJs in the UK just wouldnt play. To all UK Indie DJ's - The Killers do have more than one song that goes..."Somebody told me". They also have top acts playing with the mighty Queen of the Stone Age booked in for this Saturday. I vow to visit Razzmatazz once every couple of months and use it as the basis for any hen / stag, birthday clebrations etc. With el cheapo Easyjet flights nothing can stop me now!
