V Festival

V was interesting this weekend after some crazy deadline delays I managed to get down to the site at 6pm on Sunday ready to review the main acts.

So first of all the rather disorganised girls from the PR agency managed to screw up my festival pass so I had to wait for ages to get in which made me miss a good part of James' set who where the only band I really wanted to see. Anyways I caught the end of it and it was pretty good - the crowd seemed very up for it. I just wish I'd had time to sink a few more beers and see their set properly.

Next up was Lily Allen on the other stage. Now as you may remember from my Glastonbury review I was really impressed with her and to be honest I did think it was unfair she wasn't on the main stage at V...main stage at Glasto but not V - strange?! Now Lily does have a beautiful voice and I am really fond of her but the snidey swipes throughout her set are just so cliche...rolling out the same jokes from your set in June at Glastonbury is just not cool. Yes, we know your ex-boyfriend had a small dick but girls with class don’t go on about things like that, and yep we all hate Dubya too and lastly toasting a drink to Amy Winehouse was a callous thing to do. I know you've pasted your response on Myspace saying you were being nice but honey I was there and that’s just not true. You did it to get a rise outta the crowd.

Next Kasabian. Now I LOVE Kasabian but as V just has totally no soul I found myself going off to buy beers during their set...blasphemous I know. However, I didn't feel so bad when I heard Tom Meighan shout out 'You've been the best crowd this year'. Now come on Tom you must have been totally coked off your head to say that. Are you honestly saying the crowd at V was better that Glasto, Ibiza Rocks, Somerset House and your homecoming gig in Leicester?

My oh my! My soul was in tatters.

So then it was left up to Brandon Flowers to cheer me up. The Killers are a fabulous live band and Flowers the consummate front man. I loved the outfit- like a cyber Mormon and the accent...phew! Highlights include - Bones, For Reasons Unknown and All These Things That I’ve Done. But alas, no Glamorous Indie Rock n Roll…boo hooL

Final judgement? V has no soul, is full of chavs and I will DEFINITLEY not be going next year, well only if the organisers promise to let me watch Kate Moss beat up Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud.

Agree on the chav bit Vix. Full of them and little soul about the place. The organisers could learn a lot from the likes of Bestival, Electric Gdn and Latitude to bring a bit of charm to it all...
